BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team used a three-run third inning to top Campbell 4-1 on Saturday at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium. PC took two out of the three games against Campbell in the series.

The Blue Hose improved to 19-15, 5-3 in the Big South Conference, while the Camels fell to 16-19, 3-6 on the season. PC travels for a two-game series against Gardner-Webb at 4 and 6 p.m. in Boiling Springs, N.C. on Wednesday.

In the bottom of the second, Caroline Smith homered to right center and put Campbell up 1-0.

PC responded in the third. Erin Ruff (Chardon, Ohio) singled to left field before Kelsie Sanchez (Clearwater, Fla.) reached on a fielding error by the center fielder. Hope Rogers (Gaston, S.C.) put down a bunt that scored Ruff and tied the game at 1-1. Madison Longanecker (Sanford, Fla.) singled to center field that scored Rogers and Sanchez on an error by the center fielder that put the Blue Hose up 3-1.

The Blue Hose loaded the bases in the top of the seventh. Jordan Ashley (Abbeville, S.C.) walked that scored Rogers and ended the scoring.

Sydney Seigler (North Augusta, S.C.) pitched a complete game with one run, on two hits and struck out one for the Blue Hose.

Courtney Roberts threw five innings with three runs, on six hits and struck out one, while Amber Schisler pitched two innings with one run and struck out one for the Camels.

Longanecker went 2-for-3 with one RBI, while Ruff went 2-for-4 and scored one run.
