CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team battled Longwood on Sunday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts but fell late in the match, 5-2.

The Lancers took the doubles point by taking two of three matches. Brittany Nuttall and Celine Schepers claimed a 7-5 victory at No. 3 but LU got a 6-3 win at No. 1 and a 6-2 win at No. 2.

In singles, Longwood won four of the six singles matches for the match victory but PC took each of the matches on courts one and two. Schepers earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 for her fourth victory of the year at No. 1. Tracy Johnson claimed a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2 for her team-high 13th singles win of the season.

The match hinged on a pair of three-set matches at No. 3 and No. 5. Demi Henschel took the opening set, 6-3, but Longwood's Isis Gill-Reid won the final two sets, 6-2, 6-4. On court five, Mason Thomas took set one, 6-3, but PC's Claire-Mitchell Andrews took the second, 7-5, to force the third set. Thomas would hold on for the three-set win, taking the final frame 6-4.

PC concludes its regular season with a pair of matches this week. The Blue Hose travel to UNC Asheville on Wednesday in their final conference match, before hosting Pfeiffer on Saturday in the season finale.
