ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis fell to UNC Asheville in a close match, 4-3, in the conference finale on Wednesday afternoon in Asheville, N.C.
The Bulldogs claimed the doubles point by taking two of the three matches to take the early 1-0 lead in the match. UNCA took both matches on courts one and two by the score of 6-3 with the match on court three going unfinished.
In singles, the two teams split the six matches with each side taking three. PC would take wins on courts one and two for the second straight match.
Celine Schepers claimed her second straight victory with a three-set victory at No. 1. She took the opening set, 7-6 (4), and dropped the second set, 4-6, before taking the third-set tiebreaker, 10-7. Tracy Johnson earned her team-leading 14th singles win of the year, coming in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. Brittany Nuttall would get her 11th win of the year with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4.
PC concludes the regular season at home on Sunday with its Senior Day match against Pfeiffer.
