Bridges Named Big South Offensive Player of the Week

CLINTON, S.C. – Running back Darrell Bridges has been named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Campbell on Saturday, the conference announced on Monday.

Bridges rushed for 159 yards and one touchdown on a career-high-tying 32 carries in PC's 31-14 victory over the Camels. The total was the second highest of his career, trailing only his 186 rushing yards against Coastal Carolina last season. The redshirt junior currently ranks second in the Big South rushing yards this season with 287 yards on the year for an average of 95.7 yards per game.

It was the eighth time in his career that the Chattanooga, Tenn. native rushed for at least 100 yards and  the first time this season. Bridges touchdown in the second quarter was the 11th of his career, a team-high among current players, and gave the Blue Hose a 17-0 lead at the time. He then helped cap off the game with a 48-yard run, PC's longest play of the season, to set up the final PC touchdown and put the game away.

Bridges is just the second PC player to earn the Big South's weekly offensive honor and the first since 2008. Brandon Miley is the only other PC player to date to be named the league's Offense Player of the Week, when he received the award on November 3, 2008.
