CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team defeated the Mercer Bears in overtime in Clinton on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
Scoring opportunities were few and far between for both teams during regulation. Mercer had the best chance of either team in the opening 90 minutes, but the shot from the Mercer forward bounced off of the post after PC goalkeeper Connor Behrend came out to challenge for the ball. Mason Lewis ended the game in the 93rd minute when he received the throw in from Cade Crow and shot into the bottom left of the goal to give the Blue Hose their first home win of 2016.
Men of the Match
Lewis' goal, his third of the year, was his only shot of the night, and the only shot he needed to help PC to the victory. Behrend's shutout was the first of his career and the first for the Blue Hose since beating Georgia Southern 1-0 in 2010.
Stat of the Game
The win marks head coach Jonathan Potter's first at home as the man in charge of the Blue Hose.
Record
PC improves to 2-6-0, while Mercer falls to 5-3-0.
