PC Hosts UNC Asheville in Home Conference Finale

Georgia Southern Edges PC, 4-3, on Tuesday

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Presbyterian College fell just short of upending Georgia Southern on the road on Tuesday, falling to the Eagles, 4-3, in Statesboro, Ga. The Blue Hose suffer their first loss on the year, dropping to 2-1, while GSU remained unbeaten at 3-0.

Georgia Southern claimed two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 match lead in to singles play. Tracy Johnson and Nicole Croxton teamed up to take the match at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, but GSU claimed wins on the remaing two courts. The two teams split the six singles matches, including a trio of three-set matches with PC taking two of the three. 

Celine Schepers remained unbeaten on the season, earning a 7-6 (5), 7-5 win on court two to improve to 3-0 in singles at the top flight. Johnson followed at No. 2 with her third straight victory to start the season, outlasting GSU's Lindsay Truscott in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Katie Thompson then claimed a three-set victory on court three, bouncing back from a 1-6 opening set to take the next two, 6-4, 6-2.

PC is back in action at home this Saturday, hosting Charlotte at 10 a.m. and Savannah State at 3 p.m. at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
