Women’s Tennis Completes ASU Invitational with 4-1 Win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team wrapped up play in the Alabama State Invitational with a 4-1 win over Jacksonville State on Saturday to go 3-0 over the two days. The Blue Hose have now won five straight matches and improve to 7-2 on the season.

PC took the doubles point with a wins on courts one and three to take a 1-0 match lead. Tracy Johnson and Nicole Croxton remained hot on court one and earned a 6-4 victory to go to 7-2 on the year as a combo. JSU would take court two, 6-2, but defaulted on court three to give PC the win in doubles.

In singles action, PC earned another default win at No. 6 before taking two of the three matches that would be finished. Johnson claimed a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 victory on court two and Croxton added another tally to her win column with 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 to help the Blue Hose to the victory. JSU took the match on court one with the final two matches going unfinished on courts three and five.

PC's five-match winning streak is its best since last season when the Blue Hose started the year with five straight wins. The 7-2 record is PC's best mark through its first nine matches in its Division I era. The previous best was 6-3 on several occasions.

The Blue Hose return to action next Saturday, hosting Western Carolina at 2 p.m. at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
