Presbyterian Sweeps Newberry, 7-0, on Wednesday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team recorded its fourth 7-0 victory of the season on Wednesday, winning eight of the nine matches against Newberry at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Clinton, S.C. PC improves to 10-4 with the win, while the Wolves drop to 11-4.

PC took two of three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. Brittany Nuttall and Beth Taylor teamed up for a 6-0 victory at No. 2 and Mary Kathryn Dickson and Katie Thompson claimed a 6-3 win at No. 3

The Blue Hose then won all six singles matches, all in straight sets. Tracy Johnson earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 for her 11th win of the year and Taylor followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2. Nicole Croxton kept it going with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 on court three, while Nuttall earned her 10th win of the season with a 6-1, 7-5. Thompson then recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win on court five and Dickson wrapped it up with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court six.

PC returns to action with a conference match against Campbell on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Clinton, S.C. at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
