RADFORD, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team defeated Radford for the first time in program history on Saturday, topping the Highlanders 5-2 in Radford, Va. The Blue Hose improved to 12-7 overall and 2-4 in Big South play, while the Highlanders dropped to 6-11 overall and 0-7 in Big South action.

Radford claimed the early lead by taking the doubles point with a sweep of the three matches. PC answered by winning five of the six singles matches en route to the victory. Tracy Johnson got it started with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court one, improving to 14-4 on the season and 3-3 in Big South matches.

Beth Taylor continued her strong play with a 6-4, 6-4 victory on court three record her 10th singles win of the season. Brittany Nuttall then pushed her season win total to 11 with a three-set victory on court four, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3, 1-0 (11-9). Nicole Croxton and Katie Thompson each recorded straight set wins at No. 5 and 6, respectively, with Croxton winning 6-3, 6-4 and Thompson getting a 6-1, 6-1 decision.

The 12 victories tie the high-water mark for wins in a season with the 2015 team, who also managed 12 wins, with both seasons coming under head coach Catherine Dunagan. The two Big South wins is also a first for the program.

PC is back in action on Wednesday, hosting UNC Asheville at 3 p.m. at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
