Last Time Out
- The Blue Hose defeated Gardner-Webb by a 72-69 score to make it two in a row in Big South play. Presbyterian improved to 34-15 all-time versus Gardner-Webb.
- PC had a season high four individuals finish in double figures led by Kacie Hall's 20 points. It was her second straight 20-point effort and the eighth 20-point effort for the Blue Hose this season.
- Macee Tamminen also scored a career high 18 points on 4-7 shooting from downtown and recorded a career high three thefts.
- Janie Miles with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists and Cortney Storey with 10 points and nine assists round out the double figure scorers for the Blue Hose. The four of them combined to score 63 of the 72 team points.
Blue Hose Offensive Notes
- PC is averaging 58.6 points per game this season on 37.8 percent shooting from the field, 32.7 percent from three and a Big South leading 76.4 percent from the charity stripe. The Blue Hose improved to 5-0 this season when scoring at least 65 points.
- The Blue Hose average a Big South leading 8.6 three-point makes per game, they have four of the top 25 individual leaders in three-point makes per game. Miles is sixth in the Big South with 2.1 followed by Hall (1.9) at eighth, Tamminen (1.5) in 17th place and Storey (1.1) is 24th.
- 16 games into the season and the Blue Hose have already made 138 three-point baskets which ranks as the sixth most in a single season in the Division I era, the Blue Hose still have a minimum of 14 games to play. They are on pace to make 260 three-pointers which would break the record of 230 set last season.
- The 32.7 percent from three is the second highest rate in program history. The record of 38.0 percent was done in 2012-13, a season they only shot 366 threes compared to already having taken 422 threes this season.
- The Blue Hose rank in the top 50 nationally in two categories, free throw percentage (76.4) is 19th and made three-point baskets (8.6) is 29th.
- The Blue Hose have improved in free throw percentage each of the last four seasons, 68.2 in '14-15, 72.7 in '15-16, 74.9 in '16-17 and 76.4 this season.
- PC has overcome 10-plus point deficits to win two of its five games. It was down 14 in the win over Furman and most recently an 11-point deficit in the win over Campbell.
- When PC scored 83 points at USC Upstate it tied the ninth most points in a single game with the 83 scored vs Truett-McConnell on 12/16/13.
- Four of the top 10 performances in made three-pointers have come this season. It tied the record of 15 vs. Furman on 12/30, made 14 which is tied-third vs. Gardner-Webb on 1/16, 13 vs. Liberty 1/2 which is tied-fifth and 11 at Upstate 11/15 which is tied-ninth.
- The Blue Hose set a new record for made free throws in a game when they went 30-34 vs North Carolina Central.
Career Days
- Hall scored 23 points on 9-15 shooting and 4-7 from three on Saturday vs Campbell. The nine made field goals were a career high. She followed that up with 20 points vs Gardner-Webb on five made threes.
- Storey set a PC individual record for made free throws with 17 vs NC Central, the previous record had been 11. She also tied her personal high and school record with 27 points at USC Upstate.
- Versus Gardner-Webb Storey came within one assist of her second career double-double as she finished with 10 points and nine assists. Her first double-double was at UNCG in 2016-17 when she scored 19 points and 10 assists.
- Ericka Blackwell-Boyden scored a career high 15 points versus UNCG (12/21) on 70.0 percent shooting from the field.
- In a two game stretch at Upstate and at Chattanooga Miles scored 33 points, her second best two game stretch. Her best was 35 at NC Central and at Campbell her freshman season.
- Riley Hemm in her lone start of the season scored 12 points with five rebounds and two assists versus NC Central (12/17) all three figures are career highs.
Outstanding Freshmen
- Freshmen have recorded eight double figure scoring efforts this season led by Tamminen's four. Five different freshmen have contributed a game with 10+ points.
- The highest scoring individual game by a freshman is the 19 points that Tess Santos scored vs Liberty.
- Tamminen scored a career high 18 points and three steals vs Gardner-Webb. This was her freshman leading fourth double figure scoring effort. She ranks fourth on the team scoring 5.4 points per game all off the bench.
- Mattie Kennedy scoring 13 vs Kennesaw State, Briley Buckner scoring 11 at Duke and Kiara Jackson scoring 10 at High Point make up the remaining double figure efforts for Blue Hose freshmen.
1,000-Point Scorers
- Storey surpassed the 1,000-point mark in the NC Central game when she scored on a fast break lay-up. She became the third member of the Division I era of PC basketball to reach 1,000 points and number 111 in Big South history including the fourth to do it this season. She currently sits at 1,115 points following the Gardner-Webb game.
- Miles is next in line for the Blue Hose as she now has 936 points following the Gardner-Webb game. If she keeps up her 9.3 points per game pace she should reach 1,000 points around mid-February becoming the fourth member of the PC Division I 1,000-point club.
- Currently five Big South players have reached 1,000 points this season, including Storey and five more are within range of reaching that milestone this season, including Miles.
Storey Setting Records
- Storey is averaging career highs in points with 15.0, assists at 5.4, field goal percentage at 45.1, free throw percentage at 83.3 and minutes per game at 38.6.
- 0 points per game rank as the best in PC Division I history, 5.4 assists per game is the best in PC history, 87 assists already rank as the sixth best total for a single season. She also averages 1.7 steals per game which is tied for the sixth best average.
- All four of Storey's assist totals will rank in the top 10 in PC Division I history. 137 in 2016-17 is currently first followed by 126 in 2015-16 ranking second. This season's 87 is currently sixth and 83 her freshman season is seventh best.
- Storey has 1,115 points which is 64 points shy of Karlee Taylor's 1,179 for second place. Her 377 made field goals are just three shy of the 380 that Taylor made, she is already first in career field goal attempts with 961.
- Storey now has 433 career assists, 103 more than Dria David who is second and 251 ahead of Miles who has the second most among active players. Her 4.0 career assists per game average is 0.6 more than the second place Amy Jones who averaged 3.4 over the course of 26 games at the Division I level. She is one assist shy of passing Bonnie Werner for fourth place in all-time history.
- She is second in career steals at the Division I level with 188, 35 behind David's 223. She is 10th in all-time PC history.
Miles Having Career Year
- Miles is having her best season statistically in a number of categories: scoring (9.3), three-point field goal percentage (42.3), free throw percentage (75.0), rebounding (3.6), assists per game (2.4) and minutes per game (30.9).
- Miles is approaching a couple of milestone numbers as well as she has 936 points, 64 shy of 1,000 and 182 assists just 18 shy of 200. If she can reach those numbers she will be just the second Blue Hose player of the Division I era with 1,000 points and 200 assists along with classmate, Storey.
- Miles currently has the fourth best three-point field goal percentage in a season at 42.3 (33-78).
- For her career she ranks in the top 10 of PC Division I history in a number of categories: Points (936) is currently fifth, points per game (8.6) is eighth, fourth in made field goals (309), second in made three-pointers (164), fifth in three-point percentage (36.2), seventh in made free throws (154), tied-sixth in assists (182) and fourth in steals (123).
Storey Named Preseason All-Conference
- Senior PG Storey has been named to 2017-18 Big South Preseason All-Conference team. She was the 2014-15 Freshman of the Year, 2015-16 Big South Honorable Mention and 2016-17 Big South Second Team honoree.
- Storey is the first preseason honoree since Karlee Taylor in 2013-14.
Blue Hose Go for 10+ Again
- PC enters this season with three straight 10+ win Big South campaigns. The Blue Hose have achieved that feat four of the last five seasons overall.
- Overall they have won 10+ conference games in 13 of the last 30 seasons with nine coming as members of the South Atlantic Conference and four in the Big South.
Scouting the Highlanders
- The Highlanders are 10-6 overall and 3-2 in Big South play so far this season. Radford is on a two game win streak as are the Blue Hose. Radford has defeated Charleston Southern by five in overtime and Longwood by 19, 52-33.
- Radford is seventh in the Big South in scoring offense at 58.8 but second in scoring defense as it allows just 56.8 points. The Highlanders shoot 38.4 percent from the field while holding the opposition to a 38.2 percent shooting average.
- Jayda Worthy averages 11.4 points per game to lead Radford. Destinee Walker at 11.2 and Khiana Johnson at 10.5 also average in double figures.
- Lydia Rivers at 8.8 and Janayla White at 8.0 lead the Highlanders in rebounding.
- Claudia Quevedo at 3.1, Jen Falconer at 2.3 and Jayda Worthy at 2.0 all average over two assists to lead Radford.
- The Highlanders are led by fifth year head coach Mike McGuire. McGuire had posted a 66-59 record in his first four seasons entering 2017-18.
Blue Hose vs the Highlanders
- PC and Radford have faced each other 21 times. Radford leads the series 16-5.
- The two teams split last season's two games as each won on its home floor. PC defeated Radford 58-54 in Clinton while the Highlanders won 60-50 in Radford.
