PC Women's Tennis Opens Season against Clemson and Lees-McRae

PC Falls at Davidson, 4-3, on Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a close one at Davidson on Saturday morning, falling to the Wildcats by just a single point, 4-3, in the first ever meeting between the two. PC drops to 2-2 on the year, while Davidson improves to 4-1.

Davidson took the early lead with wins on courts two and three to capture the doubles point. Caroline Ferrari and Tracy Johnson teamed up for a 6-3 victory at No. 1. The Wildcats took the remaining two courts both by a score of 6-1 to make it 1-0.

In singles, the two would split the six matches. Davidson took courts one, three and six to clinch the match at 4-0. Ferrari got PC on the board with a three-set win at No. 5, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5). Johnson followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 and Beth Taylor wrapped it up with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (14-12) win at No. 4 to make it a 4-3 match.

Taylor, the reigning Big South Player of the Week, continued her strong play, improving to 5-0 in singles on the year.

PC returns to action on Wednesday with a road match at Wofford.
