Women's Tennis Handles Kennesaw State, 6-1

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis won seven of the nine matches on Saturday en route to a 6-1 victory over Kennesaw State at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Clinton, S.C. The Blue Hose improve to 5-3 overall, while the Owls fall to 1-7 on the season.

PC claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Beth Taylor and Brittany Nuttall teamed up for a 6-0 victory at No. 3, before KSU evened it up with a 6-2 win at No. 1. Demi Henschel and Samantha Calais capped it off with a 6-3 win at No. 2 to give PC a 1-0 lead.

PC took five of six singles matches to record the victory. Katie Thompson got it started with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 and Johnson followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 to make it a 3-0 PC lead. KSU earned its lone point with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1 to make it 3-1.

Caroline Ferrari clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 to record her fifth win of the season. Samantha Calais kept it going with a 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 and Beth Taylor remained unbeaten with a 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 to cap off the 6-1 PC victory.

Blue Hose return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Winthrop in the Big South opener for PC.
