Blue Hose Postpone Match Against South Carolina

Women's Tennis Presbyterian College Athletics

PC Edged by Charleston Southern, 4-3

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team came out on the wrong end of a 4-3 match against Charleston Southern on Wednesday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Clinton, S.C. The Blue Hose fall to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the Big South, while the Bucs improved to 7-3 and 3-0 in Big South action.

The Blue Hose claimed the early lead with wins on courts two and three in doubles play. Brittany Nuttall and Beth Taylor got it started with a 6-3 win at No. 3 and Caroline Ferrari and Tracy Johnson clinched the point for PC with a 6-3 win at No. 2.

In singles, CSU took the first match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 to even the match at 1-1. Johnson then put PC back in front with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2. The Bucs claimed wins on courts three and four to pull ahead but Katie Thompson tied it 3 with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 6.

The match then hinged on court five with PC's Caroline Ferrari and CSU's Kimberley Koerner going to three sets. Ferrari took the first, 6-3, and Koerner countered by taking the second, 6-4, to send it to three. The match went down to the with a tiebreaker in the final set but ultimately Koerner took the final frame, 7-6 (8-6), to give CSU the 4-3 win.

PC returns to action on Saturday, travel to Campbell for a Big South match at 10 a.m.
