The Bucs hit back to back home runs as part of a four-run fourth inning as the Charleston Southern softball team took the 6-1 win over Presbyterian College in Big South action Friday afternoon in Charleston, S.C. Macy Hyatt led PC with a three-for-three effort at the plate.
CSU 6, PC 1
After two quiet innings by both teams, CSU put a runner on base in the third off a hit by pitch. A single by Kendall Anberson put a second runner on, with Mallory Kasinger sending them both across the plate off a three-run home run. Sarah Brown followed it up with a solo shot to make it 4-0 in favor of the home team.
PC rallied in the top of the fifth with Chelsea Lyons singling to short with one out on the board. She reached third off a stolen base and a wild pitch. Lyons scored two batters later when Camryn Alverson laced a single to short to cut the margin to three, 4-1. It was short-lived with Summer Moore hitting a two-RBI single to plate Brown and Meghan Gagliano, who were on base off a walk and single, to take the Bucs up 6-1. PC couldn't mount a comeback and the game ended with CSU taking the 6-1 win.
Jade Gandara led CSU in hits with two, with Kasinger tops in RBI with three. Hyatt led PC with three hits, while Alverson posted a RBI.
Kaylee Allen (0-14) took the loss, going 2.1 innings and giving up four earned runs and three hits. Arizona Pilgrim (8-7) picked up the win for CSU, going 5.0 innings and surrendering one run off five hits.
