Presbyterian Falls at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team fell to Colorado State, 5-2, in an early morning match on Sunday at the Fort Collins County Club. The Blue Hose fall to 5-5 on the year, while the Rams improved to 8-4 on the season.

It was Presbyterian taking the early lead in the match with a win in doubles play. CSU recorded a 6-0 win at No. 1 but PC followed with wins on courts two and three. Demi Henschel and Samatha Calais won 7-5 at No. 2 and Beth Taylor and Brittany Nuttall followed with a 7-5 result at No. 3 to put PC in front 1-0.

Colorado State turned the match in singles action with wins on five of six courts. Taylor continued her outstanding play with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, remaining unbeaten on the season at 10-0. The sophomore has dropped just one set this season and has won each of her last five matches in straight sets.

The Blue Hose did force a third set in two other matches. Calais took the opening set at No. 3, 6-4, but CSU's Alyssa Grijalva bounced back to win the final two, 6-4, 6-1. At No. 5, CSU's Emma Corwin recorded a 6-1 first set but PC's Caroline Ferrari answered with a 6-0 second. Corwin came out on top in a close third, 6-4, to take the match.

The Blue Hose wrap up their Colorado trip against Colorado Christian on Monday at 5 p.m. ET (3 p.m. MT) in Lakewood, Colo.
