Blue Hose Sweep Gardner-Webb on Senior Day

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team celebrated Senior Day with a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-16, 25-20) over Gardner-Webb on Saturday afternoon in Big South Conference action at the Templeton Center. The Blue Hose improve to 12-11 on the season and 6-3 in conference play, while GWU dips to 2-18 overall and 0-9 in the Big South.
 
Notables
- Sophomores Lauren Talbert (nine) and Trinity Williams (eight) paced a balanced PC attack which had six different players record at least five kills.
- Williams also topped the Blue Hose with 11 digs.
- Sophomore Erin Cooke notched six kills, handed out a match-high 14 assists and had seven digs.
- Junior Sierra Jones registered 13 assists and seven digs.
- In her final home contest as a Blue Hose, senior Erin Eulitz had eight digs and equaled her career high with five helpers.
- Sophomore Samantha Stanko compiled a career-high eight digs.
- Presbyterian served up 11 aces, including three apiece from Eulitz and Jones.
- The Blue Hose finish with a 6-2 mark at the Templeton Center, their best record at home in the program's DI era (2007-present).
- The victory was PC's sixth straight against the Runnin' Bulldogs.
 
How it Happened
- Trailing 7-6 in the opening set, PC put together an extended 16-4 run, which included a 7-0 spurt, to put the first set away.
- The Blue Hose used a 7-1 stretch early in the second set to pull ahead 13-6. Gardner-Webb tallied the next three points, but PC countered with a 6-1 run to stretch the margin to 19-10. GWU got within 21-15, but Presbyterian took four of the next five points to claim a two-set advantage.
- Neither team took a lead larger than two in the third set, until a 3-0 PC spurt gave the hosts a 14-11 edge. Gardner-Webb whittled the margin to one on several occasions, including 21-20, but the Blue Hose ended the match on a 4-0 run to seal the victory.

PC hits the road next weekend to take on USC Upstate on Friday and UNC Asheville on Saturday.
