How it Happened
- In the first set, a 4-0 run put UNC Asheville ahead, 10-5. The Blue Hose drew within one at 15-14, but could never quite overtake the Bulldogs, as the hosts took the opener, 25-21.
- With the second set even at 9-9, PC used a 6-2 spurt to climb in front, 15-11. UNC Asheville got as close as three on multiple occasions, but a 3-0 stretch extended the Blue Hose advantage to 20-14, putting the set out of reach.
- A 6-1 Presbyterian run gave the visitors an 11-6 lead in the third set. A four-point spurt grew the margin to 20-12, and the Blue Hose kept the Bulldogs at arm's length the rest of the way to take the set.
- PC raced out to an 8-2 advantage in the fourth set, but the Bulldogs countered with a run of their own to get back within one, 15-14. The Blue Hose held a 21-19 edge, but UNC Asheville tallied the next six in a row to send the contest to a decisive fifth set.
- A 4-1 run got the Blue Hose out to a 9-5 lead in the fifth set. The Bulldogs got back even at 10-10, then got the contest to match point at 14-11. Presbyterian fought off three set points to get back level at 14-14, but UNC Asheville took the next two points to seal the set and the victory.
