Wright Sets Block Mark in Setback at CSU

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Junior Allie Wright totaled a Presbyterian College DI era record 10 blocks, but it was not enough as the Blue Hose fell 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 26-28, 25-23, 17-15) at Charleston Southern in Big South Conference volleyball action on Friday evening. PC drops to 13-13 (7-5 Big South), while CSU improves to 13-13 (5-7).

Notables
- Wright collected a pair of solo blocks and eight blocks assists to reach her record-setting total. The eight block assists also tied for the most in a single match in PC's DI era. With her 10 blocks, the Simpsonville, S.C., native moved into fourth place in career blocks in the school's DI era, with 255.
- Despite the setback, a Radford loss to Hampton earlier in the evening secured Presbyterian's first berth in the Big South Conference Championship since 2014. It will mark the fourth tournament appearance for the Blue Hose since joining the conference in 2008.
- Erin Cooke and Trinity Williams led PC with 13 kills apiece, while Lauren Talbert tallied nine.
- Cooke added 13 assists for her team-leading 16th double-double of the season. She also pitched in seven digs.
- Williams collected a career-high 20 digs to pick up her third straight and 10th total double-double of the year.
- Erin Eulitz led PC with 28 digs, while Sierra Jones dished out a team-best 27 assists.

How it Happened
- Charleston Southern got out to a 12-5 advantage to start the first set. PC tallied the next four points to cut the margin to three, 12-9. A 5-1 spurt helped the Buccaneers extend the lead back to seven at 21-14 and eventually take the set.
- In the second set, Presbyterian broke a 6-6 deadlock with a 5-1 run. CSU drew within one on several occasions before tying the score at 21-21. The Blue Hose responded by grabbing four of the next five points to even the match at one set apiece.
- The third set was tight throughout, with neither team grabbing a lead larger than three until PC nudged ahead, 20-16. The Buccaneers answered with a five-point spurt to take a 21-20 edge. CSU had three set points, but the Blue Hose stayed alive and eventually snagged the set, 28-26.
- Charleston Southern broke an 11-11 tie with a six-point spurt to open up a 17-11 lead in the fourth set. Presbyterian rallied to get within a point twice, but the hosts hung on to force a decisive fifth set.
- A 4-0 run put the Blue Hose on top 8-6 in the fifth set, but CSU countered with a 7-1 spurt to go on top, 13-9. PC fended off three set points before the Buccaneers sealed the set and the victory.
