Clinton, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was defeated by Wofford on Sunday afternoon, 4-3, in a hard fought match.
The Terriers took the doubles point with wins on courts number one and two. Beth Taylor and Katie Thompson defeated their opponents 6-1 on the third court. The duo of Tracy Johnson and Samantha Calais took a 5-2 lead in their match on court two, but faltered in a tiebreaker.
In singles play, Taylor and Thompson each grabbed their second victories of the afternoon. Taylor earned a 7-5, 7-5 straight set victory at number four as Thompson took home a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win at number six. Johnson earned a 6-4, 6-3 win on court two.
"We had our chances, but in so many matches it comes down to doubles point," said head coach Steve Brooks. "Considering the match-ups, I thought we had a great chance because these Blue Hose fight hard and never give up. In the end, we came up just short."
