Charleston, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team earned a decisive 5-2 win over Charleston Southern on Tuesday afternoon. This win moves the Blue Hose to 10-5 in 2019, 3-1 against Big South competition.
PC got started on the right foot in doubles play. The pairings of Sydney Patton and Tracy Johnson and Samantha Calais and Jessica Leeman each picked up 6-3 wins to clinch the first point of the match.
Leeman and Calais would each earn another victory in singles competition. Leeman and Katie Thompson both collected straight-set victories, Leeman 6-3, 6-3 on court five and Thompson 7-5, 6-0 on court six. Calais battled back to take the final two sets of her match after falling 3-6 in the first set. Beth Taylor won by retirement on court four. The Blue Hose won the first four singles matches that finished to take a 5-0 advantage before dropping the final pair of matches in tiebreakers.
