Women's Tennis Opens Spring Slate On Friday At Clemson

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis opens its spring slate on Friday afternoon when the Blue Hose travel to Clemson for a 1 pm match against the Tigers. The Blue Hose on Saturday afternoon will face Georgia Tech in Greenville to wrap up the opening weekend.

COACH ROBERTS ON THE WEEKEND
" I am very excited about getting the season started this weekend against Clemson and Georgia Tech," commented Head Women's Tennis Coach Joel Roberts. " The team has been working hard and I know they are ready to compete this spring."
 
THE OPPONENTS
- This marks the second all-time meeting against the Tigers as Clemson earned a 4-1 win to open the 2019 season.
- The Blue Hose and Yellow Jackets have never played in Presbyterian's DI history dating back to 2008.
 
LAST TIME OUT
- Presbyterian returns seven players from a record setting 15-7 season which saw the Blue Hose go 7-2 in the Big South to finish second in the Big South.
- Last season, Katie Thompson was named the Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year and she was also named second team doubles. Beth Taylor was named to second team single and was a part of the doubles team with Thompson.
- Taylor sits in fifth in the Blue Hose DI record book for singles wins with 40 as she needs just 10 more wins to move into the top spot. She's also just eight doubles wins away from taking the top spot in the doubles rankings.
- The Blue Hose competed in four fall tournaments highlighted by Katie Thompson winning her flight at the Elon Fall Invitational.
 
UP NEXT
- Presbyterian returns continues its four match road swing next weekend beginning on Friday, January 24 against Charlotte before traveling to Elon the next day to face the Phoenix.
