49ers Down Blue Hose On Friday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was defeated by Charlotte on Friday morning, 5-0. The match was held at Lifetime Fitness in Charlotte, N.C. on Friday.

"Today was a battle as Charlotte has a very good team and our team didn't back down, said head coach Joel Roberts." "We have a quick turnaround tomorrow against Elon and I am really looking forward to the team having a short memory and be ready for another great match tomorrow."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 49ers earned the doubles point on Friday with a 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot and secured the point with a 6-1 victory in the No. 2 spot. Charlotte held a slim 4-3 lead in the No. 1 doubles position before the match was called.
-  Charlotte picked up wins at No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 to secure the victory.

NOTABLES
- After falling in the first set, senior Beth Taylor earned a 6-4 win in the second set and battled to a tiebreaker in the third set before dropping the match in the No. 2 singles slot.
- Sophomore Beth Lacey earned a win in her first set at No. 3 singles by the score of 6-3.
- Senior Katie Thompson earned the win in her opening set at No. 5 singles before the match was called after Charlotte had earned the win.
