Williams Announces Five Signees to 2021 Class

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College and head softball coach David Williams announced the signing of five student-athletes to the class of 2021 on Thursday. Utility player Kelby Goodrum (Mooresville, N.C.), pitcher/outfielder Morgan Hess (South Riding, Va.), infielder/pitcher Skylar Page (Moncks Corner, S.C.), utility player Kennedy Rhue (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and infielder Jersey Silver (Moncks Corner, S.C.), are all set to join the Blue Hose for the 2021 season.
 
"We are extremely pleased to be adding these five talented young ladies to our program," Williams said. "The wide variety of skills and experience they possess will allow them to immediately impact the depth and competitiveness of our roster. I'm looking forward to getting them on campus next fall!"
 
Kelby Goodrum – UT – 5-7 – Mooresville, N.C. – South Iredell HS
 
High School: Two-time All-Conference, All-District and All-State selection (2018, 2019) … In first three high school seasons, batted .453, collecting 77 hits, 23 doubles, five triples, six home runs and 51 RBIs … Also played JV basketball for two seasons and spent one year on the tennis team … Member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and Friends for a Difference … Student Ambassador … Completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program and enrolled in the IB Career Path program.
 
Club: Played club ball with Team NC Huss … Team was ASA 18U NC state champion in 2019 and ASA 14U state champion in 2018.
 
Personal: Born Kelby Ann Goodrum in Charlotte, N.C., to Chris and Kristi Goodrum … Older sister, Abbey, plays softball at Gardner-Webb … Chose PC because I loved the small school and small town atmosphere … The campus is beautiful and the school has a reputation for helping individuals become successful in their careers … Intends to major in Business Management and wants to pursue a career in event planning.

High School: Named All-State, All-Region, All-Conference and All-Loudoun County in both 2018 and 2019 … 2019 All-Metro honorable mention … Team was conference runner-up, region runner-up and qualified for the state tournament in both 2018 and 2019 … Posted a 1.80 ERA with 205 strikeouts and hit .385 with five home runs … Was the Team MVP in 2019 and won the Coaches Award in 2018 … Carries a 4.0 GPA and is enrolled in AP, Dual and Honors classes … Member of the Freedom Eagles Leadership Team and the school orchestra.
 
Club: Played with Stars National – Belfield … Had a 1.01 ERA while also hitting three home runs in the summer of 2020 … Named a 2020 Summer All-American … Helped the team finish as runner-up at the Florida USSSA Invitational and in third place at Myrtle Beach Nationals.
 
Personal: Born Morgan Catherine Hess in Alexandria, Va., to Kimberly and Raymond Hess … Older sister, Kensley, plays softball at Christopher Newport University … Chose PC because it offered the majors I was looking for, it felt like home and being around the team was a good environment … Intends to major in Psychology and Sociology and wants to work for the FBI.

High School: All-Region and All-Tournament selection … Named Team MVP and Best Defensive Player … Helped team reach the fourth round of the state playoffs … Once homered four times in a single tournament, including in back-to-back at-bats … In the top-10 of her class at Berkeley HS.
 
Club: Hit .300 while playing club ball for Carolina Fire out of Summerville, S.C.
 
Personal: Born Skylar Renee Page in North Charleston, S.C., to Sharon and Maurice Page … Father, Maurice, played baseball at Liberty … Chose PC because I love the beautiful school and the softball program's amazing coaching staff … Intends to major in Biology.

High School: Five-year varsity starter (one year at Wando HS and four at Oceanside) … Two-time All-Region selection (2018, 2019) … 2019 Best of Preps Softball Player of the Year and Team MVP … Career .491 hitter who had four homers and 23 RBIs in 2019 … Team captain … Helped the 2017 team to district and region championships … Also played basketball at Oceanside … All-Region selection in 2018 … Two-time Carolina Classic MVP (2018, 2019) … Led the team in points, rebounds and assists in 2018 … Holds the school record for points in a game … Team captain … Carries a 4.8 (out of 5) GPA … Member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Volunteer Club and Marine Biology Club … Sophomore Class President.
 
Club: Played club ball for Stars National – Belfield … In 2019, hit .325 with five home runs.

Born Kennedy Hope Rhue in Laredo, Texas, to Holly and Matt Rhue … Chose PC because of the way it felt like home … I knew from the second I stepped on campus that I wanted to go to PC … Intends to major in Pre-Med or Biology, and wants to become a doctor.

High School: 2020 Lowcountry Softball Player of the Year … Was an All-State selection in 2019 and an All-Region selection in both 2018 and 2019 … Named First Team All-Lowcountry in 2018 … Two-time Offensive MVP (2018, 2019) …  2020 Byrnes Invitational Most Valuable Player … Part of three region championship teams (2017-19) and two district championship teams (2017, 2018) … Batted .537 as a freshman with 30 stolen bases … Posted a .545 batting average as a sophomore … Hit .840 as a junior … Received an Academic Letter.
 
Club: Played club ball for Lady Lightning Gold Pedy 18U.
 
Personal: Jersey Brooke Silver was born in Charleston, S.C., to Tracy and Ricky Silver … Chose PC because of the beautiful campus, the coaching staff and it felt like a home away from home … Intends to major in Accounting.
