Tennis Opens 2021 Season With Trip to Davidson

Home Opener Set for Sunday vs Lander

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis begins its 2021 season with a pair of matches beginning on Saturday afternoon as the Blue Hose head to Davidson for a 12 pm match with the Wildcats. The weekend wraps up on Sunday afternoon with a 1 pm match against Lander in Clinton.

COACH ROBERTS ON THE WEEKEND
"I am really looking forward to this weekend and starting our season on Saturday afternoon, said head coach Joel Roberts. "The team is beyond excited to finally get to compete again. They have been working extremely hard in practice and I can't wait to see what we have when we play against Davidson. I'm also looking forward to the quick turnaround and facing Lander for our home opener Sunday as well."
 
SCHEDULE CHANGES
- Presbyterian's February 5th match against College of Charleston has been postponed and will be made up on February 21st at 1 pm in Clinton.
 
THE OPPONENTS
- Davidson opened the 2021 spring with a 7-0 defeat in a match with East Tennessee State last weekend.
- Lander is taking the courts for the first time this spring as this will be the second exhibition they compete in after facing Georgia Gwinnett this past Thursday.
- Davidson has won the only prior meeting between PC and Davidson which occurred in February 2018 when the Wildcats edged the Blue Hose out by the score of 4-3.
- Presbyterian and Lander have never met in D1 action dating back to 2008.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team has not been on court for a match since March 12, 2020 when the Blue Hose came up short by the score of 5-2 against Winthrop. Following that match the rest of the 2020 season was shut down to COVID-19.
- In the match with Winthrop, senior Katie Thompson tied the PC career Big South singles mark for wins with her 14th win in league matches. She tied Tracy Johnson who also had 14 during her career which spanned from 2016-19.
- Sophomore Zeba Jamal earned her first career win at Presbyterian with the victory at No. 4 singles. 

UP NEXT
- Presbyterian returns to the courts on Friday February 5th when the College of Charleston visits Clinton for a 1:30 p.m. match against the Blue Hose.
