Wildcats Down Blue Hose in Season Opener

Davidson, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped its season-opening match on Saturday afternoon as the host Davidson earned a 7-0 victory at the Knobloch Tennis Center.

COACH ROBERTS ON THE MATCH
"I think the team competed pretty well overall this afternoon," commented head coach Joel Roberts. "We definitely have some things to work on and clean up but the best part about today is that we were able to compete for the first time in 10 months. I am really looking forward to how this team grows moving forward."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davidson got out the early advantage with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles before taking a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles to secure the team doubles point. The Wildcats won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles as well.
- The hosts pushed the advantage to 2-0 with a straight set victory at No. 1 singles.
- The Wildcats earned a straight set win at No. 3 singles to push the lead out to 3-0 and Davidson secured the match with a tiebreak win at No. 2 singles.
- Davidson also earned straight set wins at No. 4, 5 and 6.
 
NOTABLES
-  Alexa Wilson and Lucianna Piedra made their collegiate debuts on Saturday afternoon for the Blue Hose.

UP NEXT
- Presbyterian hits the road once again next Saturday, February 6th for a match at 11 a.m. against Charlotte. The match with the 49ers was originally scheduled for March 27th but was moved up following schedule changes for the Blue Hose on Friday. PC will also travel next Sunday to Chattanooga to face the Mocs at 1 pm.
