Freshmen Lead Blue Hose in Setback Against 49ers

Charlotte, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was led by freshman Alexa Wilson and Lucianna Piedra both earned singles wins in a 5-2 setback against Charlotte on Saturday at Life Time Fitness in Charlotte.

"It was a really good effort from our team today against Charlotte," said head coach Joel Roberts." I am looking forward to the team building on this momentum against Chattanooga tomorrow. It will be a good early season test to play on such a quick turnaround."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charlotte got off to a quick start with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles before a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles to earn the doubles point on Saturday.
- The 49ers also earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
- Charlotte pushed the lead out to 2-0 with a straight set win at No. 1 singles and moved ahead 3-0 after a straight set victory at the No.2 singles spot.
- PC got on the board at No. 3 singles via Alexa Wilson earning a 6-4, 6-2 result to cut the 49ers lead to 3-1.
- The hosts secured the match with straight set wins at No. 4 and 5 singles.
- The Blue Hose were able to earn a second point with a three-set tiebreak win by freshman Lucianna Piedra as she earned a 10-6 win in set three to earn the point at No. 6 singles.
 
NOTABLES
-  Wilson and Piedra both earned their first career victories in singles action on Saturday for the Blue Hose.

- Presbyterian has a quick turnaround as the Blue Hose return to the courts tomorrow morning for a 10 a.m. first serve against Chattanooga.
