Leeman Earns Victory in Defeat at Chattanooga

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Junior Jessica Leeman earned a straight set victory on Sunday afternoon as the Presbyterian College women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat against Chattanooga  at the Strang-Voges Tennis Center.

"Tough result today as we played some really good tennis in stretches but just didn't go our way on some courts," commented head coach Joel Roberts."Chattanooga played very well across the board in the big moments. We will take a lot of positives away from the weekend and get ready to go for another good week of training and matches next weekend."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mocs got out to a early advantage for the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 doubles position. Chattanooga clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, while also winning the No. 2 doubles position by the count of 7-5.
- The hosts got on the board first in singles action with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles to push the lead out to 2-0 in the match.
- In the No. 2 singles spot, UTC needed a tiebreak in the opening set but was able to come away with a straight set win and push the advantage out to 3-0.
- Leeman got the Blue Hose on the board at No.4 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 victory to cut the Mocs lead to 3-1.
- Chattanooga secured the match with a three-set winner at the No. 5 singles position to take the win on Sunday.
- The Mocs added a victory at the No. 1 and 6 singles spots as well for a 6-1 final.

UP NEXT
- Presbyterian gets its home slate open on Friday February 12 at 1 pm against Georgia Southern at the Templeton Tennis Courts. The match with the Eagles will be the first of three consecutive home matches as Wofford (Feb. 14) and Belmont Abbey (Feb. 17) will make up the three-match homestand.
