GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team finalized their results from this past weekend at the Lander Invitational, putting forth another strong showing early in the season.
Georgije Babic and
Javier Matos went undefeated in their flight, scoring wins at 6-3, 6-3, and 7-5 to win the flight, and are now 10-0 as a pairing this year. Freshman
Pedro Cardoso and junior
Teo Cariov finished second in their flight scored wins at 6-2 and 6-1, and are now 7-1 as a duo.
Sebastian Dominguez and
Daniel Martens paired up and came second in their flight, starting with a 6-2 victory and ending with a win via an injury to their last opponent.
Vance Mercer was the final competitor for Presbyterian in doubles play as he teamed up with Tanguy Calicis of Augusta University, unfortunately dropping both matches.
Cardoso and Babic met in their singles flight fighting for 3
rd/4
th place. Cardoso took home third with a 6-1, 6-4 win over his teammate. Cariov was the big winner in the east flight, winning all three of his matches. Martens was able to snag third place with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Artur Davydovskiy of Augusta.
Mercer won his first match of singles play 6-2, 6-2 before falling and getting placed in the 3-4 playoff. He was able to win that playoff with a pair of 6-3 set wins to take third place. Matos and Dominguez were the final Blue Hose to take the courts with Matos coming out victorious with a final win of 7-5, 6-4. Dominguez won his side of the flight with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
