RADFORD, VA. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team was unable to get by a powerful Radford offense as the Blue Hose fell to the Highlanders 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
FINAL SCORE: Radford 2 – Presbyterian 0
RECORDS: Presbyterian (1-15-1, 0-8-1), Radford (10-4-1, 4-3-1)
LOCATION: Cupp Stadium – Radford, Va.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Freshman
Kelly Hall got the nod in net for Presbyterian as she watched an early shot from the Highlanders go wide. Radford had another shot in the early going and this time Hall made a diving save to her right to deny the goal. The Blue Hose were awarded a free kick but they could not make anything of it as Radford had two more shots that went over the net. Presbyterian got their first shot of the game by way of
Lauren Hendry, but it was saved. Just as the Blue Hose looked to be building an attack, Radford took the ball and was able to slide it by Hall to take the lead. Presbyterian looked to tie the game late in the half, but it was the Highlanders who scored the next goal as they led 2-0 at halftime.
It was an unfortunately start for Presbyterian in the second half as Radford added another quickly to take a 3-0 lead. Hall made her fifth save of the game immediately following the goal as she prevented Radford from scoring a fourth. Presbyterian struggled to create any more offense in the second half as Hall made a couple more saves before the clock ran out, the Blue Hose falling 3-0.
Coach Purcell's Thoughts
"Radford is a good team. They have a lot of speed and that gave us some trouble today. I thought we did well with our shot selection, but we need to create more if we want to score and win."
