Blue Hose Fall to Davidson at Home

CLINTON, S.C. – In a tough defensive battle, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (6-5-2) lost a hard-fought game, 1-0, to the Davidson Wildcats (9-6-2) at Martin Stadium.

COACH POTTER'S THOUGHTS
"We played with a lot of energy tonight," Presbyterian coach Jonathan Potter said. "Davidson is a good team that is well organized and physical. I felt that we had some good scoring chances but we just couldn't convert on those quality chances. We will work on that in practice this week and get ready for two important Big South Conference home games starting with Saturday's game against Gardner-Webb."

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 54th minute, Davidson scored the game's only goal when Benjamin Gilligan scored off a Connor Smith assist.

NOTES
  • The Blue Hose finished the game with an 8-5 advantage in shots and a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Marshall Dickson led Presbyterian with two shots. Corey Smith, Cesar Sancho, Voro Rivera Peris, Nile Nguidjol, Jaume Rubio, and Niklas Hoener each recorded a shot.
  • In the 35th minute, Smith recorded Presbyterian's first shot on goal when he took a shot from 15 yards out from the left side of the box that was stopped by Davidson goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo.
  • In the 65th minute, Presbyterian's Nguidjol recorded the Blue Hose's second shot on goal with a shot from 10 yards out that was stopped by Davidson's goalkeeper Piccardo.
