Sanchez Paces Blue Hose in Fall Finale

Spartanburg, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team wrapped up its 2021 fall season over the weekend at the Wofford Fall Invite led by freshman Claudia Sanchez who advanced to the finals ultimately finishing second in her bracket in Spartanburg.

NOTABLES
- The tournament in Spartanburg featured eight singles brackets (Gold, Terrier, Black, Conquer, White, Prevail, Gray and Wofford) along with four doubles brackets (Gold, Black, White and Gray) that PC along with eight other schools competed in to wrap up the fall slate.
- Sanchez competed in the black bracket for singles as she picked up an early win over Gardner-Webb via injury before a three-set victory over UNC Asheville before she dropped the finals matchup to Furman.
- Sanchez paired with Lucianna Piedra in the gold doubles bracket picked up a victory over Kennesaw State in doubles action.
- Valentina De Sousa battled back from an early defeat to get two wins and win the west draw of her bracket in the Wofford bracket over the weekend.
- After an early setback in the terrier bracket, Jessica Leeman picked up a victory over Emory in the west bracket for her group. In doubles action, Leeman was paired with Beth Lacey as the duo won against Wofford and Furman to win the west bracket of the doubles bracket they competed in.
- Piedra, Lacey along with Alexa Wilson and Madison Dennett each grabbed singles wins in their respective brackets over the weekend in Spartanburg. Wilson and De Sousa also grabbed a doubles win paired together while Dennett earned win in doubles action with a player from Radford.

- With the fall season in the rearview mirror, the Presbyterian College women's tennis team will now turn its attention to the 2022 spring season with the schedule to be announced at a later date.
