How it Happened
- PC took an early lead on senior day behind
Allie Wright as they led 7-4 in set one. The Blue Hose was able to hold off Winthrop for a moment as they kept the three-point lead at 14-11. Winthrop called timeout at 20-17 and that changed everything as they went on an 8-0 run to take set one, 25-20.
- The Eagles took that momentum into set two as they opened that set on a 9-0 run. Presbyterian would tack a few on, but another big run by Winthrop put them out in front 22-4, and would win the set 25-8.
- PC wasn't going away easily though as they opened set four up 6-2 and forced Winthrop into a timeout. Some back-and-forth action in the middle of the set saw the Eagles go up 15-14, but Presbyterian rallied on a 4-0 run and stayed alive winning set three 25-21.
- As the Blue Hose had some momentum they played the Eagles to a close open in set four, 4-4. Winthrop jumped out to 10-5 and never looked back. Late points by
Hannah Chapman and
Cydni Miller were not enough as PC fell in set four, 25-15.
Coach Burgess' Thoughts:
- "It was a great weekend to honor our seniors! Obviously today didn't turn out as we planned, but we are still looking forward to finishing the regular season strong. It will be a competitive weekend on the road, but we look forward to the challenge and hopefully be in Buies Creek in a couple weeks."
