Presbyterian Rolls Past Truett McConnell 91-49

CLINTON, S.C.  – Behind balanced scoring and a solid defensive effort, the Presbyterian Blue Hose defeated the Truett McConnell Bears, 91-49, in their final non-conference game.
 
With the win, the Blue Hose improved their record to 8-7.
 
The Blue Hose had 12 players score at least two points including four players scoring in double-figures. Winston Hill led the Blue Hose with 14 points while grabbing six rebounds. Rayshon Harrison scored 13 points while connecting on three three-point field goals. Brandon Younger scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds. Kirshon Thrash scored 10 points off the bench. Ambaka Le Gregam scored eight points off the bench.
 
Presbyterian's bench outscored Truett McConnell's bench, 43-20. The Blue Hose finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds which led to 26 second-chance points,  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Presbyterian scored the game's first four points and never looked back. The Blue Hose scored 14 of the first 17 points taking a 14-3 lead with 14:13 on the clock. Younger, Harrison, Hill, and Kobe Stewart scored during the Blue Hose's early scoring run. After Marquis Barnett connected on a three with 11:30 on the clock, Presbyterian pushed their lead over Truett McConnell to 21-6. When Trevon Reddish-Rhone connected on a free throw at the 6:36 mark, the Blue Hose took a 20-point lead, 35-15. With 13 seconds left in the half, Harrison connected on a long three giving Presbyterian a 49-26 halftime lead.
 
SECOND HALF – Presbyterian exploded offensively to start the second half with a 16-0 run which was capped by a layup by Younger giving the Blue Hose a 65-26 lead with 15:45 on the clock. Harrison, Hill, and Stewart also scored during the run. James Lovorn scored on a driving layup which pushed Presbyterian's lead to 71-30 with 12:10 on the clock. A fast-break layup by Owen McCormack gave the Blue Hose their largest lead at 80-30 lead with just over 10 minutes on the clock.
 

NOTES
  • Presbyterian's second half defense limited Truett McConnell to six points over the first 13 and a half minutes.
  • The Blue Hose who rank among the nation's leaders in offensive rebounds tallied their seventh game this season with at least 17 offensive rebounds when they grabbed 18 offensive boards.
  • Hill's 14 points marked his 18th career double-digits scoring game.
  • Harrison tallied his 32nd career double-figure scoring game with 13 points.
  • Younger recorded his eighth career double-figure scoring game with 12 points.
  • Thrash tallied his fourth career double-digit scoring game with his 10 points off the bench. Thrash connected on four of his six field-goal attempts.
  • Reddish-Rhone dished out a career-high six assists.
  • Barnett led the Blue Hose with a season-high eight rebounds.
