Presbyterian Drops Match at #24 Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. –  The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was shutout on Thursday afternoon by the score of 7-0 against #24 Furman. The match was held at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. on Thursday.

COACH ROBERTS ON THE MATCH
"It was a tough one today against a very good Furman team," said head coach Joel Roberts."We just have to keep working and coming ready to go every day and on every point. I know this team will bounce back on Sunday against College of Charleston."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Furman got out to a fast start with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles before picking up a 6-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position to earn the doubles point.
- The Paladins also won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
- The hosts pushed the lead out to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 singles position before grabbing a 3-0 advantage with the win at No. 3 singles.
- Furman clinched the match with a straight-set win at No. 4 singles.
- The Paladins added a straight-set win at No. 2,5 and 6 singles to earn the 7-0 victory.

- Thursday's match was the first match during the DI era where Presbyterian faced a ranked opponent as the Paladins checked in at #24 in the latest ITA rankings.
