Miles Sets DI Program Record as Blue Hose Earn DH Split

Richmond, Ky. – Fifth Year senior Eric Miles set a DI program record for wins on Saturday with his 22nd career win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader as the Blue Hose earned a split in the twinbill taking game one by the score of 12-9. Eastern Kentucky took game two by the count of 5-3. Chris Veach led the Blue Hose offense in the doubleheader with six hits which included three doubles.

NOTABLES
- In game one, Eric Miles broke a tie for the DI program record in victories as he picked up his 22nd career victory on Saturday. Miles went 7.0 innings allowing five hits and five runs while totaling five strikeouts. He broke the tie with Chandler Knox who pitched for PC from 2011-14. 
- Miles also became the fourth PC pitcher in the DI era to reach 200 career strikeouts with his five punchouts.
- At the plate, Veach led the Blue Hose offense with a six-for-nine day at the plate as he totaled three doubles and scored five runs in the doubleheader. Jake Wyandt was four-for-seven with three extra base hits (two doubles, one triple) on the afternoon.
- Veach also was able to shut the door in game one for the Blue Hose and earn his first save of the season.
- Sean Klein connected on his team-high second home run in game one, while Kyle Decker grabbed his first of the season on the first pitch of the afternoon.
- As a team, PC hit .324 in the doubleheader with nine extra base hits (six doubles, one triple, two home runs).
- In game one, Presbyterian swiped five bases led by Veach with two stolen bases. The five stolen bases is tied for third in the DI record book for stolen bases in a game.
- Veach's four runs scored in game one was the first time a Blue Hose scored four times in a game since Zacchaeus Rasberry scored four at Longwood on May 10, 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Blue Hose got out to a fast start as Decker's first pitch home run got PC on the board early with a 1-0 lead.
- Following an RBI groundout from Ryan Ouzts, Rasberry lined an RBI single up the middle to push the Presbyterian lead out to 3-0 after half an inning.
- In the second, Sean Klein picked up a two-run single to push the advantage out to 5-0.
- The hosts got on the board with an RBI single and a three-run home run to cut the Blue Hose lead to one, 5-4.
- Presbyterian responded quickly in the third as it started with an RBI single off the bat of Landon Shaw which was followed up quickly by an RBI triple by Wyandt that pushed the lead to 7-4.
- After an RBI double from Veach, the Blue Hose took advantage of an EKU fielding mistake to plate a ninth run. PC capped the third inning with an RBI single from Ouzts to take a 10-4 lead.
- Klein picked up a two-run home run in the fifth to push the Blue Hose lead out to 12-4.
- EKU added a run in its half of the fifth with an RBI double to make it 12-5.
- The hosts added three runs in the home half of the eighth to cut the Presbyterian lead down to four, 12-8.
- The Colonels added a run in the ninth off of an RBI single before Veach shut the door to earn PC the 12-9 game one victory. Veach also grabbed his first save of 2021.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- PC struck first in the third inning with an RBI groundout from Veach to take a 1-0 lead.
- EKU quickly responded with a pair of runs in its half of the third inning to take a 2-1 advantage to the fourth inning.
- In the fifth, Wyandt evened the game at two with an RBI double to score David Sweat.
- The Colonels quickly responded in their half of the fifth with a two-run double to break the tie and take a 4-2 lead to the sixth inning.
- PC cut the Eastern Kentucky lead to one, 4-3 with a Toth sacrifice fly in the sixth that allowed Veach to score.
- EKU answered once again in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to push the lead back out to two runs at 5-3 that the hosts wouldn't relinquish en route to a Saturday doubleheader split.
