Women's Tennis Hits the Road for Back-to-Back Matches

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis returns to the courts for a back-to-back set of road matches beginning on Saturday against the 49ers in Charlotte starting at 11 a.m.. The Blue Hose will follow that up with a 10 a.m. first serve with Chattanooga on Sunday morning.

COACH ROBERTS ON THE WEEKEND
"I am really excited for the weekend as I think we have a great chance to bounce back after Davidson last weekend, said head coach Joel Roberts. "It will also be a great test for our team to play back-to-back match on the road against quality opponents."
 
SCOUTING THE 49ERS
- Charlotte enters the weekend with a 3-2 record on the spring following a 5-2 victory over Virginia Tech last time out for the 49ers.
- The match with the Hokies was the 49ers third match against an ACC opponent in 2021 as they also faced off with Duke and Wake Forest already on the young season.
- Charlotte is led by Kaavya Sawhney who is 4-1 on the year in singles action, while Margaux Maquet, Rocio Safont and Ruxi Schech each have three victories in singles play this season.
- The Blue Hose and 49ers meet for the sixth time in the Presbyterian D1 era on Saturday as Charlotte has collected wins in each of the prior five meetings including a 5-0 victory last January in Charlotte.

SCOUTING THE MOCS
- The Mocs enter the weekend with a 2-0 record ahead of their own back-to-back as they face UNC Asheville on Saturday before PC visits Chattanooga on Sunday morning.
- Chattanooga has wins over UT Martin and Lee so far in 2021.
- Jessie Young and Emma Van Hee at the No. 1 and 2 singles spots for the Mocs have earned straight set victories in both matches during the 2021 campaign.
- Sunday's match is the second all-time meeting in the D1 era between Chattanooga and Presbyterian with the Mocs earning the victory by the count of 6-1 last season.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped its season-opening match on Saturday afternoon as the host Davidson earned a 7-0 victory at the Knobloch Tennis Center.
Alexa Wilson and Lucianna Piedra made their collegiate debuts against Davidson for the Blue Hose.

UP NEXT
- Presbyterian gets its home slate open on Friday February 12 at 1 pm against Georgia Southern at the Templeton Tennis Courts. The match with the Eagles will be the first of three consecutive home matches as Wofford (Feb. 14) and Belmont Abbey (Feb. 17) will make up the three-match homestand.
