Sancho Scores in Defeat at USC Upstate on Wednesday

Spartanburg, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team was unable to overcome an early offense outburst from USC Upstate as the host Spartans earned a 5-1 win on Wednesday night at County University Stadium. Cesar Sancho connected on his third goal of the season in the second half for the Blue Hose as their lone tally in the game.

How It Happened
- USC Upstate got on the board first in the 33rd minute with a goal from Paul Bobai to give the Spartans the 1-0 lead
- Upstate extended the lead in the 36th minute with a penalty kick from Pascal Corvino to push it to 2-0.
- In the 52nd minute, PC got on the board with a goal from Cesar Sancho as he converted off of the set piece to cut the Spartan lead to 2-1.
- The Spartans extended the lead to 3-1 in the 71st minute as Corvino connected on his second penalty kick of the contest.
- The hosts added a fourth goal in the 84th minute to give them a 4-1 lead.
- USC Upstate, in the 85th minute, picked up a goal from Jimmy James to give them a 5-1 victory on Wednesday night.

By the Numbers
- Upstate outshot the Blue Hose 12-2 and had more shots on goal, 7-1
- PC had two more corner kick opportunities, 4-2.

Notables
- Sancho's goal was his ninth of his Blue Hose career moving him into a tie for fourth in the Blue Hose D1 record book for goals scored. He tied Josh Carter and Clement Vannier on Wednesday night.
- Sancho also tied Mamadu Bau for the team lead with three goals on the season.
