Blue Hose Drop League Opener against Gardner-Webb

Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team opened league play on Saturday with a 5-2 setback against Gardner-Webb at the Templeton Tennis Courts. Nicholas McKinney and Max Benson earned singles wins in the defeat to the Runnin' Bulldogs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gardner-Webb opened doubles action with a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles before clinching the doubles point after earning a 7-6 tiebreak win at No. 1 doubles.
- Presbyterian's pair of Daniel Martens along with McKinney did win a tight doubles match at No. 3 doubles.
- The Blue Hose evened the match up at one apiece with McKinney's win at No. 3 singles in straight sets.
- The guests pushed back ahead with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No.4  singles and used a straight-set win at No. 6 singles to take the lead out to 3-1.
- The Runnin' Bulldogs clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
- Benson needed a third set tiebreak to make it 4-2 Gardner-Webb before the guests picked up the third set on court five to give the match its 5-2 final result.
