Benson Earns Victory in Defeat at #15 N.C. State

Raleigh, N.C. – Junior Max Benson earned a three-set victory on Tuesday afternoon as the Presbyterian College men's tennis team fell by the count of 6-1 against  #15 N.C. State at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolfpack got the early advantage on Tuesday with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles and secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position. The hosts also earned a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles as well.
- N.C. State extended the lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 2 singles position before a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles extended the lead to 3-0.
- The Wolfpack secured the match with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles.
- PC got on the board with Benson going three sets and winning a 10-3 tiebreaking third set to make it 4-1 N.C. State.
- The hosts earned a pair of straight set wins at No.5 and 6 to pick up the 6-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon.
 
NOTABLES
- Tuesday's match marked the second consecutive season PC has faced #15 in the ITA rankings as the Blue Hose dropped a 7-0 decision to South Carolina last February.
