Camels Down Blue Hose in Series Opener

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team fell to Campbell 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 27-25) in the opener of the two teams' Big South Conference series on Thursday evening.

Notables
- Erin Cooke had a team-high five kills for the Blue Hose and chipped in 13 digs.
- Anna Hewitt notched a team-high 20 digs for PC, extending her streak of matches with 20 or more digs to nine in a row.
- Allie Wright tallied a pair of blocks to move into second in PC's DI era (2007-present) for career blocks with 317.
- Samantha Stanko collected 10 digs, her fifth double-digit dig effort of the season.
- Sierra Jones handed out a team-best nine assists for the evening.
- In the first start of her collegiate career, Hailey Grocholski totaled a career-high three blocks and tied her career high with four kills.
- Presbyterian enjoyed a 7-5 advantage in blocks.
 
How it Happened
- With the first set even at 4-4, Campbell rattled off eight straight points to go ahead, 12-4. Presbyterian could not get any closer than seven for the remainder of the set, as the Fighting Camels grabbed a 1-0 edge in the contest.
- Holding an 11-9 lead in the second frame, the Camels used a 5-0 run to extend their cushion out to 16-9. A 5-2 PC response got the Blue Hose back to within four, 18-14. Campbell built its advantage back out to seven at 24-17, at which point Presbyterian fought off a pair of set points before CU sealed the set.
- Trailing 4-3 early in the third set, the Blue Hose used a 6-2 spurt to move in front, 9-6. Leading 11-9, PC used a 5-1 surge to extend the margin out to 16-10. The Blue Hose held a 21-16 edge before the Camels ripped off seven points in a row to overtake Presbyterian and grab a 23-21 advantage. Campbell got the contest to match point at 24-22, but PC battled back to tie the set at 24-24, then fought off another match point at 25-24 to once again even the score. The ensuing two points went to the Camels, however, to seal the set and the match.
