Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten in Big South Play

RADFORD, VA. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in Big South play on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over Radford at the Radford Tennis Complex.

 "I am really proud of the team today," commented head coach Joel Roberts. "Our effort and toughness across the board was fantastic. Radford came out ready to go and the team just kept battling. We will enjoy this one and then get ready for Campbell on Sunday back on our home courts."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- PC got out to a quick start with Alexa Wilson and Samantha Calais earning a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
- The hosts bounced back with a 6-3 win at No.3 doubles and earned a 6-4 win at No.1 doubles to earn the doubles point from the Blue Hose on Tuesday.
- At No. 6 singles, Beth Lacey earned a straight-set victory with a commanding 6-0 second set performance to even the match up at one.
- Wilson carried over her momentum from doubles into a straight-set singles win at No. 4 singles to push the PC lead to 2-1.
- Radford evened the match up at a pair with a win at No. 2 singles.
- Lucianna Piedra gave PC the lead right back with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles as the Blue Hose took a 3-2 lead to the final two matches.
- After dropping the opening set 6-1, junior Jessica Leeman battled back to earn a three-set victory to earn the Blue Hose the victory on Tuesday.
- Zeba Jamal needed a tiebreaker in the second set to get PC the 5-2 victory over the host Highlanders.
 
NOTABLES
- Leeman earned her team-high seventh singles win on Tuesday and her fourth straight win in singles action.
- It's the Blue Hose longest Big South win streak since 2019 when PC won six straight league match en route to a 7-2 overall league record.
- It's the Blue Hose fourth straight victory over the Highlanders.
