Women's Tennis Downs Bulldogs 6-1 on Senior Day

CLINTON, S.C.  – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team remained unbeaten in Big South play on Thursday with a 6-1 victory over UNC Asheville at the Templeton Tennis Courts. Senior Samantha Calais clinched the match for the Blue Hose on senior day this afternoon.

COACH ROBERTS ON THURSDAY'S MATCH
"I am extremely proud of the team today," commented head coach Joel Roberts. "The conditions were brutal and the team just kept fighting through them. It felt great to be back at home and get a big on senior day."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alexa Wilson paired with Calais got the Blue Hose out to a quick start with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Jessica Leeman and Lucianna Piedra clinched the doubles point for PC with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
- Asheville earned a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles after the doubles point had been secured by Presbyterian.
- The Bulldogs evened the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. PC quickly regained the lead in the match at No. 3 singles as Leeman won 6-1, 6-2 to take a 2-1 lead overall in the match.
- Lacey extended the Blue Hose lead to 3-1 with a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles.
- Calais used a second-set tiebreak to go on and clinch the match for PC and push them to 4-0 overall in the Big South.
- Jamal needed a third-set to extend the Blue Hose lead to 5-1 before Piedra won in three sets to earn the Blue Hose a 6-1 victory.

- PC hits the road for the final time in the regular season on Tuesday, April 6, with a 1 pm match at Charleston Southern.
