Piedra Tallies Victory in Setback at Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Freshman Lucianna Piedra earned a singles victory on Tuesday as the Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped its first league match of the spring by the score of 6-1 at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center.

 "It was a tough one today," commented head coach Joel Roberts. "CSU played very well and congrats to them on clinching the regular season title. I know the team will bounce back and be ready for Campbell on Thursday afternoon."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston Southern got out to an early advantage in doubles with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles before clinching the doubles point at No. 2 doubles.
- The hosts had a 4-3 lead at No. 1 doubles before the doubles point was already clinched.
- PC evened the match at one when Piedra had a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
- CSU regained the lead with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles.
- Charleston Southern pushed the lead out to 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
- The Bucs clinched the match with a straight-set win at No. 4 singles.
- CSU also tallied wins at No. 1 and 2 singles for a 6-1 victory.
