PC Softball Welcomes SC State for Tuesday Twin Bill

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team returns to action on Tuesday afternoon with a doubleheader against South Carolina State at the PC Softball Complex.

Returning to the Field...
The Blue Hose are set to take the field for the first time in over two weeks on Tuesday as they host a twin bill against South Carolina State. PC has been off after a combination of inclement weather and COVID-19 concerns either postponed or canceled the team's last 13 scheduled games. The Blue Hose and Bulldogs had been set to meet back on Feb. 18, but that day's doubleheader was postponed until later this month due to inclement weather.

Last Time Out...
PC marked its first road trip of the 2021 season with a pair of wins back on Feb. 21, sweeping North Carolina A&T 6-1 and 8-0. Jenna Greene and Haley Haselden each earned complete game victories, with neither allowing an earned run, keeping the team's ERA at 0.00 through four games. Jillian Hewes had multiple hits in both games, including a homer in the opener. Courtney White and Layna Johnson each scored three times for the afternoon.

Award Winners...
After beginning 2021 with a 4-0 week, Presbyterian earned its first two awards of the season, as Jenna Greene was named Big South Pitcher of the Week and Jillian Hewes was selected as the conference's Freshman of the Week. Greene yielded just a pair of hits and did not allow an earned run over 13.0 innings while racking up 25 strikeouts. Hewes went 7-for-12 (.585) in her first week as a collegian, belting a pair of homers, two doubles and driving in a team-high eight runs. The Simpsonville, S.C., native also drew a pair of walks and was hit by a pitch for a .667 on-base percentage.

The Opponent...
SC State arrives in Clinton searching for its first win of the 2021 season, having started the campaign 0-5. The most recent meeting between the two programs came on Opening Weekend of the 2020 season, with the Blue Hose coming out on top 8-0.
