Men's Soccer Travels to Upstate on Wednesday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team makes it's return to the field on Wednesday night in Big South action as they travel down the road to face USC Upstate at 7 pm from County University Stadium in Spartanburg. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

SCHEDULE CHANGES
- Presbyterian's match against High Point that was originally schedule for March 7th has been rescheduled for March 24 at 6 pm from Martin Stadium.

SERIES HISTORY
- Wednesday's match will be the 14th meeting between the Blue Hose and Spartans in a series that dates back to 2007.
- USC Upstate holds the advantage in the all-time DI series with a record of 7-5-1, with PC taking the last meeting by the count of 3-1 in October of 2019

SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
- USC Upstate enters Wednesday's match with a 2-2-1 overall record and is 2-0-1 in conference play after a 4-1 victory against Winthrop last time out. The Spartans had four different players bury a goal in the contest with Winthrop with two coming in each half.
- Pol Monells leads the Spartan offense with four goals and two assists thru their first five matches of the season. Jeremy Montero has two goals on the season, while three other Spartans check into Wednesday's match with a goal apiece.
- Felipe Baeza leads USC Upstate in goal with 19 saves and a 1-2-1 record on the season.
- Scott Halkett is in his fourth year as the head coach of the Spartans and in his eighth year in the Upstate program. He owns a 13-36-4 overall record in his four seasons at USC Upstate

LAST TIME OUT
- The Presbyterian College men's soccer team battled all afternoon with Longwood but neither team was able to find the back of the net as Sunday's Big South Conference opener ended in a 0-0 draw at Martin Stadium.
 
NOKKVASON FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
- Presbyterian College men's soccer freshman defender Nokkvi Nokkvason was named the Big South Freshman of the Week for games played Feb. 22-28, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
- Nokkvason scored his first career goal Feb. 24 in PC's victory over Lees-McRae.  He connected on his lone attempt and gave the Blue Hose a 2-0 lead at the time.  On Sunday against Longwood, he was part of a backline that permitted just eight shots and four on frame.

MILESTONES WITHIN REACH
- Despite the shortened spring season, the Blue Hose have a two players with the opportunity to climb ranks in the program record book this season. Ziegler's two assists on Wednesday night against Lees-McRae moved him into a tie for first all-time and now he needs just one to set the program record. The senior must also log 785 minutes to jump into second or 1280 minutes to eclipse the school record.
- Junior goalkeeper Valentin Kliebe with his next win would move into a tie for second in program history for victories

- PC returns to the pitch on Sunday, March 14 at 3 p.m. when it heads to Boiling Springs to face off with Gardner-Webb.
