Blue Hose Best Charleston Southern on Senior Night

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team tied its season high with nine service aces, including a career-high tying four from Sierra Jones, on the way to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-21, 25-17) over Charleston Southern on Thursday night.

Notables
- PC served up a season-high tying nine aces, led by four from Jones. Jones' four aces equaled her career high and were the most by a Blue Hose in a single match this season. The senior also handed out a team-high 11 assists.
- Erin Cooke paced the Presbyterian attack with eight kills. The junior also added nine assists and seven digs.
- Allie Wright was one behind Cooke with seven kills in the contest.
- Anna Hewitt recorded a team-high 14 digs for the Blue Hose.
- Presbyterian owned a 9-5 edge in blocks, led by Hannah Chapman's season-high six rejections.
- Hailey Grocholski notched a career-best six digs.
 
How it Happened
- The Blue Hose tallied the first six points of the evening on their way to a 9-2 lead in the first set. Charleston Southern got back to within five on several occasions, the last of which came at 22-17. Presbyterian then iced the set with the final three points to seize a 1-0 edge in the contest.
- It was CSU who jumped out to an early advantage in the second frame, as the Bucs took the first four points to spark a 7-2 start. PC got back to within 9-6 before another four straight Charleston Southern points pushed the margin to 13-6. Trailing 17-12, Presbyterian rattled off five in a row to even the frame up at 17-17. With the Buccaneers back on top, 19-18, a 6-0 PC surge put the Blue Hose back on top for good, as they took a 2-0 lead into the break.
- Presbyterian notched four of the first five points in the third set, and eventually opened up a 10-4 cushion. Charleston Southern drew back to within four at 10-6, but the Blue Hose countered with an 8-1 run to extend their advantage to 18-7. The Bucs could not get any closer than seven for the remainder of the match, as PC knocked off CSU in straight sets at home for the second consecutive season.
