Notes

Last Time Out...
Presbyterian halted a four-game slide on Wednesday with a pair of victories over Southern Conference leader Western Carolina. The Blue Hose edged the Catamounts 2-1 in the opener, with Courtney White delivering the go-ahead run with a fourth-inning single. Haley Haselden shutout WCU on one hit in game two, and PC hit a trio of solo home runs to compete the sweep, 3-0.

Home Sweet Home...
The Blue Hose continue their five-game homestand this weekend as they welcome Longwood to Clinton for a three-game series. PC improved to 8-2 at home this season after its doubleheader sweep against Western Carolina on Wednesday. Presbyterian won its first Big South Conference home series of the season, taking two out of three from Charleston Southern late last month.

Haselden, Greene Continue Dominance...
The starting pitching duo of Haley Haselden and Jenna Greene continued to dominate in the midweek double dip against WCU, as the pair combined to allow one unearned run and six hits with 12 strikeouts over 14.0 innings. Haselden carried a no-hitter into the fifth and one-hit the Catamounts to pick up her third shutout of the season. Greene retired 12 in a row at one point and fanned eight to surpass 200 strikeouts in her Blue Hose career. The sophomore became the sixth PC pitcher to surpass 200 career strikeouts in the program's DI era (since 2008). As a team, the Blue Hose rank second in the Big South and 48th nationally with a 2.39 ERA.

Bombs Away...
PC launched a trio of solo home runs in the finale of Wednesday's twin bill against Western Carolina to win 3-0. Layna Johnson notched her first of the year, Jaiden Tweed hit her third and Kiley Kross blasted her team-leading fourth of 2021. The three home runs tied for fourth-most in a single game in the program's DI era.

Looking at the Lancers...
Longwood comes to town having taken two out of three at Radford earlier in the week to move to 8-4 in league play and win their third straight conference road series. Lancers' ace Sydney Backstrom leads the Big South in wins (14) and innings pitched (144.2) while also ranking second in the league with 124 strikeouts.
