CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team dropped its season opener to the Furman Paladins by a final score of 3-0 on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Furman came out of the gates hot as 30 seconds into the match they threatened with a corner kick. Presbyterian defended well, but the Paladins were able to get on the board in the 19
th minute. They quickly made it 2-0 with a goal three minutes later. Freshman
Sarah Dieffenderfer got the only chance for the Blue Hose in the first half, but her shot was blocked and cleared away.
Furman pressured to begin the second half as
Kelly Hall went in net for Presbyterian to make her collegiate debut. Hall made an incredible toe save to deny Furman a third goal and followed that up with two more saves in quick succession. After the Paladins hit the post,
Jessica Newton had an opportunity that was thwarted away by Furman's goalkeeper. The Paladins scored their third goal in the 74
th minute as Abby Newton got the last chance for Presbyterian, but was denied.
