JOHNSON CITY, TN – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team was denied their first road win of the season as they couldn't get by ETSU, falling 1-0.
FINAL SCORE: ETSU 1 – Presbyterian 0
RECORDS: Presbyterian (1-2), ETSU (1-0)
LOCATION: Summers-Taylor Stadium
HOW IT HAPPENED:
ETSU attacked quickly to begin the game, but
Megan Serrano made a diving save to prevent an early goal. The Bucs came right back though and took the lead in the 5
th minute off the boot of Katie Philips. Serrano had to come up with a second save in the 15
th minute as Presbyterian tried to get on the attack. ETSU kept up the pressure as multiple shots were blocked by Presbyterian as the defense had to be on their toes. Serrano had to make a few more saves before the end of the first half as the Blue Hose looked to regroup going into the second frame.
Jessica Newton and
Kori Lawrence got the first shots off in the second half, but both were saved by ETSU's goalkeeper. The next action was by ETSU as a header was goalward, but
Kelly Hall swallowed it up as she replaced Serrano in net. Hall came up with two more saves quickly as she was denying the Bucs of getting a second goal. As Presbyterian was showing blips of offense, the Bucs peppered Hall with shots again and Hall kept fending them off to keep the Blue Hose in the match. Presbyterian's best opportunity came with a late free kick, but they could never find the equalizer as they fell 1-0.
