CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team went the entire distance on Monday night, playing 110:00 minutes to a 0-0 tie against North Greenville.
FINAL SCORE: 0-0
RECORDS: Presbyterian (0-1-1), North Greenville (0-0)
LOCATION: Martin Stadium
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Presbyterian had the first chance of the game coming from a corner, but nobody in a white jersey could find the ball. North Greenville came back with a shot, but it went high and wide as there was no danger. The Blue Hose put on more pressure with corner kicks as
Cesar Sancho had two headed balls on net, but neither had the speed to get past the keeper. A lot of plays came from throw-ins as both teams played possession based through the first half.
The Crusaders came out strong to start the second half, putting two shots towards the net, but goalkeeper
Valentin Kliebe watched them go over the net.
Voro Rivera Peris then had a glorious opportunity, but the ball bounced at the last second as he had a wide open net to shoot at. Presbyterian started to take control of the game keeping more and more possession in the offensive third. Multiple corners and free kicks were awarded to the Blue Hose, but they could never get the ball into the net.
The first overtime period began with
Ndrin Maloku firing two shots at goal as only got all the way through.
Mamadu Bah had the next chance which didn't go, and North Greenville finished the frame with two shots of their own, but nothing threatening.
The Crusaders used their pace to get chances down the wing, but strong play from the Presbyterian backline prevented anything of the sort. Presbyterian had two late corners to try to find the game winner, but time was not on their side as the game finished 0-0.
